We actively look for new graduates to join Tashacare to make a difference in the lives of our clients and deliver on the purpose of why we exist – our clients. We are passionate about investing in the future of our industry. That’s why we’ve designed a comprehensive 12-month graduate program that will provide our grads with the skills, knowledge, and experience needed to become a confident and competent speech pathologist or occupational therapist.

Our Graduate Program Officer (GPO) was a graduate the previous year which means they know everything you will experience in your first year.  The GPO is in place to assist, support and share their knowledge our new graduates.

  • Our program has a gradual increase in billable hours over 6 months because it is important to us to do everything possible for new people to build confidence and develop skills over time without additional pressures.
  • Our Graduate program has a comprehensive orientation plan including shadowing experienced therapists in different settings and with different clients.
  • Our Graduate training program is designed and delivered by our GPO providing new grads with the invaluable support and the unique perspective of lived experience as a graduate.
  • We offer one hour per week supervision with your team leader of the same discipline, group clinical supervision with experts in the field and onsite experts.
  • There is an extra hour of group supervision exclusively for graduates to discuss specific clinical questions related to your caseload.
  • Reporting to one of our highly skilled OT / SP Team Leaders, our graduates main purpose is to be part of a passionate, dedicated, talented and enthusiastic team of allied health professionals.

What will your first year look like?


  • Week 1 to 2
Week 1 to 2

Weeks 1 & 2 are all about settling in, this involves:

  • Meet & greet – meet the team, other graduates, and our leaders.
  • Spend some time with your Team leader and book in your weekly supervision.
  • Start your graduate journey working with our Graduate Program Officers and our group of graduates
  • Get a guided tour of our Northcote location to know where everything is
  • Complete a thorough, self-paced & engaging orientation program that covers the A to Z of working at Tashacare and in the NDIS.
  • Shadow other therapist in their face-to-face sessions to experience our Tashacare approach.
  • Understand the importance of you and our clients safety and how we can ensure this.
  • Start attending our fortnightly all staff team meetings to know what is going on at Tashacare.

  • Week 3 to 4
Week 3 to 4

Working with our clients and start your professional development.

  • Utilise support from our teams and our available resources as you engage and support your very first clients and their families.
  • Join the graduate weekly group supervision to talk through clinical questions and gain more knowledge.
  • Utilise your annual $5,000 professional development allowance, support from your team leader to build your comprehensive professional development plan for the upcoming 6-12 months. This will support your confidence as well as development in the areas that you are interested on further enhancing.
  • Join your team meeting with therapists of the same discipline as a great way to learn – from each other.
  • Learn what the other half does in our multidisciplinary team meetings where we discuss cross overs between our OT and Speech therapists.

  • Month 2 – 6
Month 2 – 6
  • You will be continually supported by our experienced therapists, sector specialists, your team leader, and our graduate program officer to dive deeper into your field and build your clinical, NDIS and soft skills!
  • Catch up with your team leader to talk about how you are going.

  • Month 6 – 12
Month 6 – 12
  • Formally catch up with your team leader to build your development plan for the next 6 months and complete your probation review. No surprises here as you have been meeting weekly to ensure everything is on track.
  • Working with more clients and have the skills to achieve your KPI’s.
  • Plan the next 6 months of your graduate experience ready for the next phase when your graduate year is completed
  • Start thinking about what your career plan is after your first 12 months with Tashacare. There are lots of things on offer.
